Kathryn Cronin


 
 
 

Kathryn Cronin is a Maritime jeweller born into a family of practicing artists. Sarah Maloney, Cronin’s mother, sculptor, and textile artist, was Kathryn’s inspiration to pursue a career in art. Cronin started her education at NSCAD where her mother is an instructor, but after her first year she was drawn back too Fredericton where she was born, there she attended NBCCD graduating with honours. Cronin received both a jewellery diploma, and an advanced studio certificate while attending the Craft College. The series Cronin developed during her final year at NBCCD, Fortified, was shown at Gallery 78 in 2018 in a solo show, and in the group show Art Stars Jewels the following year. Kathryn Cronin is a jewellery artist that uses a variety of materials in her work, her jewellery is a means to reflect on how her formative years have shaped her as a person and how they have both helped and hindered her. She currently lives and works in Elmsdale, Nova Scotia while attending NSCAD University.
