Raina Chisholm Spalding is an acrylic painter and University of New Brunswick Alum, holding a BBA and Certificate in Management in Arts and Culture (CMAC). She calls Fredericton her hometown, where she lives and works. In 2023, Spalding studied in France, where she took inspiration from the rich arts and culture. Drawn to the beauty of everyday life, Raina finds inspiration in vintage photographs, aiming to evoke nostalgia through her pieces. Many of her paintings are reminiscent of her childhood growing up in New Brunswick, where she frequented New River Beach. In 2021, Raina was the Artist in Residence at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, gaining recognition through the Youth for Youth art exhibition. This experience served as a stepping stone for her evolving artistic journey. Spalding’s work was seen in group exhibitions “Gallery on Tour” (Ice House Gallery, Tatamagouche), and “Chartreuse” (Gallery on Queen, Fredericton). Through her work, she hopes to bring out the beauty in simplicity.
