aRose from Concrete depicts another concept of the reality that Black Women face— these pictures paint an imagery of how women rise from the concrete symbolizing the hardships and barriers that were meant to keep them down but still ascending gracefully and poised like a red rose from the concrete.

Imagine growing even in the hardest environments that were made to break you but elongating into a body of strength for yourself and those around you. A rose that AROSE. Photographed is young beautiful Ethiopian woman, wearing a handmade dress from her country, she embodies the rose as she ascends despite the scars, she rose boldly and beautifully.
